My Favorite Things of October 2016

I’m very sorry, as I haven’t been on this blog since last month! There’s really no excuse other than the typical “I’m sorry I had school and a hard test and sports and things” explanation that, sadly, is all I have. But I’m back now, and I’m going to try (especially with the breaks I have coming up) to be more prepared and more active. This includes starting a list of ideas when I think of them so I can’t blame an absence on writer’s block. Anyways, this post is a list of my favorite things that I’ve been loving for the past month, since I didn’t start this blog until late this month anyways.

  • MUSIC
    • Jon Bellion- All Time Low
      • Okay, so I’m obsessed with this dude. Specifically this song though. I’ve been bopping to this song since like September, when my boyfriend showed it to me, but it’s literally SO GOOD. All of his songs are good, though. So I have to put him on my favorites for this month.
    • Hey Violet- Guys My Age
      • Hey Violet was one of the opening acts that performed when I went and saw 5 Seconds of Summer in concert in September. They released this song a little after, but I didn’t really listen to it until this month, when I realized just how good it is. It’s really old-school and the music video is just as good. It’s the perfect angry breakup song and just makes you want to slash someone’s tires.
    • Roy English- Wa$ted ¥ou†h
      • This guy was the other opening act for 5SOS when I saw them in September, and yes, I technically discovered him in September too. But this song stuck with me after the concert and all the way into the month of October. It’s a ‘driving at night with your S/O, having a deep conversation and looking at the stars’ song that makes you want to get out and do something instead of sitting at home listening to the song like I did for a solid month.
    • The Hamilton Soundtrack- Lin-Manuel Miranda
      • Listen, I don’t care whether you’re obsessed with history, or can’t stand it- this is a bomb album. It tells the story of Alexander Hamilton, a Founding Father and our first treasury secretary. But it tells it, through rap and hip hop. It’s lyrically spectacular and the beats are even better. Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator, is a genius and I (without exaggerating or blushing in the slightest) compare him to Shakespeare.
  • CLOTHES
    • Sweaters/Sweatshirts
      • Okay I’ve been getting really into sweatshirts. Obviously because it’s fall, so is everyone but they’re the best. Wear them with shorts and you can cozy up with a blanket and hot tea. You can get the ones that advertise things you don’t know or don’t like and wear it ironically. There are just so many uses for a sweatshirt.
    • Socks
      • Along with sweaters and sweatshirts, socks are a fall must-have. And not just any socks. You’ve gotta get at least one pair of fuzzy socks to wear when you wanna dress down and be casual, and don’t forget the Christmas socks EVERYONE needs.
    • Adidas Superstars
      • Sure, the downside to these is that they make your feet look large, but they’re actually pretty great. They work with almost any outfit, and are perfect for dressing down something nicer.
    • Burgundy and Army Green
      •  This is just because it’s fall. You can’t have a fall wardrobe with just neutrals, so you have to mix in some colors as well. Go for burgundy and army green, they don’t disappoint and are quite flattering as well.
  • OTHER
    • Candles!!!
      • Specifically, my favorite for this fall season- Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin from Bath and Body Works. If you leave this candle in your room, leave, and come back, it literally smells like someone is cooking for Thanksgiving and your whole family is together. It’s great.
    • Whitening Strips
      • I’ve really been trying to whiten my teeth and take better care of them altogether. The whitening strips that I got from Crest really helped with that. In two weeks, there was already a huge difference.
  • FOOD
    • I’ve really been into the other seasonal drink from Starbucks this month, the Salted Caramel Mocha. It doesn’t get as much publicity as your typical Pumpkin Spice Latte, but deserves it. It’s delicious.

Well that’s it! I’m sure there’s plenty more, and if I do another one of those the products will probably make it into that “favorites” post. Also, as much as I wish it was, none of this was sponsored, I just wanted to talk about some things that I’ve been loving. LOVE YOU!
